Bollywood's Bounce Back: A Mixed Bag of Good News and Bad Trends The Indian box office has shown signs of life after a stagnant few years, thanks in part to the success of blockbuster films like "Dhurandhar: The Revenge".
According to Ormax Media's recent report, India's local box office raked in INR6,398 crore ($664. 7 million) in the first six months of 2026 – its highest grossing first half since the pandemic.
While "Dhurandhar: The Revenge" was the standout performer, accounting for around 20% of the total India box office for the first half of the year, its dominance highlights a worrying trend: the widening gap between tentpole releases and smaller films.
